Do you have bats in your neighborhood? They are very useful since they keep the bug population down, but the problem is that bats need somewhere to live. What if they decide to move into your attic.
You might not even have realized that you had holes in your attic big enough for them to get through, until one day when you go up there and startle them. Bats in the attic can be very annoying, but they can also carry disease, and you will quickly notice the guano (bat excrement) building up.
So what can you do? A humane way to get rid of them is to install one-way excursion devices over any entry holes they have been using. These will allow the bats to exit your attic, but not come back in. This will require you to find all the holes that they could fit through.
Leaving the light on sometimes discourages bats since they are nocturnal, but that might also attract bugs for feeding them.
