Having trees around your home is very nice, considering the shade and coolness they provide, as well as, the beauty they add to your home, but there are some dangers that trees can bring as well. For example, a tree that looks fairly healthy could be hiding rot under the surface and be closer to falling over than you think. It is good to check the trees around your home to make sure that they aren’t going to fall on your home and damage it. Even a branch falling off can do major damage. To check your trees, start by knocking on the trunk and listening to the sound it makes. If it sounds hollow, you should have it looked at. If the trunk feels soft or wet and mushy, it is also going to be a problem.
Another thing to observe are the leaves on the branches. If there are some branches that are bare, this could also be an indicator of the health of a tree.
