Carpet in the bathroom. Most would probably agree that it isn’t the greatest choice, but there are those that really want that soft warm surface under their feet in the morning, but why is it not a good idea? There are several reasons. The foremost problem is that of bacteria. Bacteria can grow well in a warm, moist environment, and there is a lot of bacteria in your bathroom. Having carpet gives them that much more protection, and it makes it difficult for you to clean them up well. If you have carpet, regular steam cleanings should be part of your cleaning routine.
There is also the risk of mold growth. Mold could even start growing underneath your carpet where it is very difficult to detect it. Mold likes dark warm areas, so again, bathroom carpet provides the ideal area for it. If you absolutely have to have carpet in your bathroom, be aware of the risks and keep it as clean as you can.
